Cloud Chaos

Whoosh… a shadow dashes through the clouds. It is Dar and he is no ordinary boy. Dressed in blue elf clothing, he wields a wand resembling a dream catcher and butterfly net, and with a swoosh, changed the dark stormy cloud into a white fluffy one.

“ Yes! Good aim once again! I am a step closer in becoming the best dream catcher ever. Now time to take another nice long deserved rest.” Dar exclaimed proudly as he skipped above the fluffy cloud platform and rest under a cloudy willow tree.

Dar thought of how foolish the others looked struggling to filter their dark clouds. He slowly drifted off in a deep slumber and smiled contentedly in his sleep. Time worked differently for the cloud people ever since an evil witch cast a spell on the human world, a curse, that all human children’s good dreams to turn bad. Their people had since then dedicated their lives, generations after generations, to help turn these bad dreams to good, and prevent children from having nightmares.

A strong yellow light suddenly shone upon Dar’s face, awaking him from his deep slumber. His eyes turn green with envy as he realized that the glow came from King Catcher’s shiny upgraded wand. Dar have long wanted to outrank and replace King but he never did. Unlike king, Dar frequent sought shortcuts or easier bad clouds to filter. Seeing King Catcher walking past with his new upgraded wand, Dar is determined to out rank him this time round.

Dar decided to not nap anymore and ran to his workshop. He started to make improvements on his wand by altering it. The boost in the wand is now increased and it could now create infinite loops of creating bad clouds and filtering them into good clouds. He manages to make it work and he went to sleep after switching the wand off. Little did he know the wand switch back on itself and do the loop faster and faster and soon form cracks on the wand itself.

The wand could no longer withstand the trauma the loops were causing and before long, it broke. The clouds enchanted previously all reverted to bad clouds once again. It was morning when Dar woke up to find his precious wand broken into fragments. By the time night come and the time for dreamland “morning” arise, Dar was shock to find his wand burst into fragments. In panic, he gathered the remains of his wand and ran to seek help from the dream guru, Yaha, who knew everything about dream magic. Yaha lived very far away from where Dar lived and thus he had to travel through the dream subway. While waiting for the train to arrived Dar swiped his hand across the mid air, activating the dream screen, to see what is going on within the human world. To his shock he saw all the children awake and many having nightmares. Deep down, Dar knew it has something to do with his failed adjusted wand. Just as the train was approaching the station, Dar spotted a group of Dream Policemen holding a wanted poster of him! The policemen seemed to notice Dar and started to head towards him. Dar decided to escape but he wasn’t fast enough. One of the policemen has caught onto his leg. The train was about to leave. Making use of the chaos in the station, Dar manage to shake off the policeman’s grip and got into the train. Cloud bots automates the train so Dar will be safe until the next station that was his destination.

Safe for the moment, Dar went back to peek into the human world and saw that the situation has gotten worst. The children look like zombies and their lack of focus was causing chaos! Dar could not bear to watch any longer but this is not the time to lament and regret. He has to strategise, fast. The next stop was coming.

The train arrived at the station and policemen started streaming in from the doors. There was no means of escape. Unless… Dar jumped out of the window and landed on the platform with a loud thud. He sprinted off and didn’t stop until he finally reached Cloud Yaha’s house. Yaha was already waiting at the door. He smiled expectedly at Dar, it seems that he already knew. He guided Dar to a cloud pond and indicated Dar to look into it. Yaha then took the bottle containing the remains of Dar’s wand and poured it into the pond. The water in the pond turned gold and shimmered brightly upon Dar’s face. The gold water spun and slowly morph into a silhouette. Dar look on closely and to his surprise, it was King Catcher! Before Dar could get a closer look, the silhouette had disappeared, with Dar’s repaired wand emerging from the surface. Yaha advised Dar to seek help from King, as he could never accomplish clearing all the bad cloud on his own even with his upgraded wand.

Yaha immediately transported Dar to King Catcher’s home. Reluctant as Dar may be, he went forward and knocked on the door of King Catcher. Dar then pleaded him to help in resolving the issue that he had caused in the human world. To Dar disbelief, King Catcher willingly accepted the request and went down to the human world to filter all the bad clouds. They work through days and nights and eventually manage to filter most of the bad dream clouds into good, restoring the balance of the dream world a balance of dream back. Once the task is done Dar thanks the King for his help and apologize for his past dislike of him. King gracefully accepted his apology and they returned back to the dream city. Sadly, waiting upon arrival was the Dream Policemen. Dar resignedly raised his hands up with a sigh as they handcuffed him and brought him away.
